About subscriptions...
(short read)
A quick word on payments for annual subscribers to my Substack. Your support and interest remains greatly appreciated.
There’s just been a flurry of payments from those who signed up when I launched this content in March ‘24, but several have been rejected due to their cards needing updating. This morning a subscriber kindly let me know this happened to them, but sorted it by logging into Substack.com and amending her subscription details.
Signing up to be a paying subscriber means every single article comes to you, and in full. For The Sports Specialist it means a rise up the Substack ‘charts’. My work on the issues around the World Cup in America and holding FIFA to account is a good reason for it to be prominent right now.
One recent article for paid subscribers was something I’m pleased to have written, exploring the psychology and body language of Britain’s ‘failure’ to win gold in the curling in the Winter Olympics. A member of the team’s confidence appeared to be affected by the negativity and doubt of her team partner. It was an angle I didn’t see anywhere else. I want content to be fresh, unique and thought-provoking.
A new article is on the way directly after this on a subject at the heart of The Sports Specialist, the treatment of football fans and how our game has been stolen.
Paid subscriptions are welcome income, as writing is my living, from articles to books. I hope and trust this is good value at around £2 (under $3) per month for an annual subscription. The articles will continue to flow, with a new fable coming soon. I’ve had to be very careful with the subject, and it’s not quite clear for publication yet.
Best wishes to all, Lee
