Happy June to all, whether you are subscriber or new to my writing on sports.
This is a good month to sign up, whether it’s for a month or annually (which works out cheaper), because there’s lots of new content on the way for paying subscribers.
I’m releasing TWO new online fables during the course of this month. One of them will be Alien Football Fan, which I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed writing it. It’s a bit of fun, imagining a petty intergalactic overlord, obsessed with football on earth, particularly English football.
But there will be serious factual content too. This coming week I’ll take on football’s hyprocritical and damaging reliance on the sponsorship of betting companies. In my aim will be the ex-pro pundits who take a piece of supposedly bad defending far more seriously than their sponsors preying on the vulnerable. I’ll name names.
I’ve also got my eye on FIFA (‘twas ever thus) and how the organisation’s President announced Cristiano Ronaldo may play in this month’s controversial, rebranded Club World Cup (which lasts two weeks more than it should). Because it’s right that FIFA makes up rules as it goes along and takes an interest in transfers before they happen?
Finally it’s been six months since the release of Football Fables, the ‘thinking fan’s’ book! Hope it’s a good holiday read, or just if you’re at home basking in the sun!

Thank you for your kind words on the book, and please do keep adding reviews. It’s great to see readers relating to the fables and their meaning beyond football. Loved this review from ‘Proper Football’, the brilliant and popular website whose name sums up the spirit of the fables!

It was lovely to read from the book and discuss the fables with fans at this recent event at my childhood library….all my best and ‘keep ‘em peeled’ for new content!
